I’ve been meaning to post this video for a while, but didn’t quite get around to it before we went on the epic walk.

A few weeks ago the Southbank Centre hosted a science festival in partnership with the Royal Society to celebrate the Society’s 350th birthday. The festival incorporated various shows and recordings, including the Infinite Monkey Cage and Bang Goes the Theory, places for kids (and adults!) to try out experiments, and find out about interesting research going on in various institutions (did you know that ants have panoramic vision? And that we’re building a big telescope?)

But the thing that stood out for me (and I kind of feel guilty for saying this, because the whole thing was really pretty awesome) were the AirPenguins: flying around the Royal Festival Hall without guide wires and only minimal remote controlling. Just watch them, you’ll be glad you did:

Isn’t it marvellous? It’s just so graceful.
