Hello again everyone!
Time has rolled around quickly, and it is now less than a week before Neil and I head up North to walk Hadrians Wall. We’ll be going East to West, starting in Newcastle and Ending in Carlisle and will be covering 84 miles.
The reason that we’re doing this is to raise money for the Joseph Salmon Trust. The Joseph Salmon Trust supports parents who have lost a child by providing financial assistance to those who need it most. This may be to help with funeral costs or to allow the self employed a break from work while they come to terms with their loss. Grieving families have enough to deal with without worries about where they will find the money to say goodbye to their child or pay the next electricity bill. Nothing we can do can make their situation better, but we can do something to stop it getting worse.
The group’s aim for this walk is to raise £20,000, a really significant sum for such a small charity. At the last count across all our fundraising schemes we were up to £14,153.
I would absolutely love it if you could sponsor us for this walk, every penny really does count here, and there are a number of ways that you can help:
Sponsor us directly at: http://www.justgiving.com/hadrianswalkers.
Buy a raffle ticket (with prizes of genuine value available, including a holiday and a digital camera): http://www.justgiving.com/hadriansraffle.
Buy a specially printed t-shirt or Buff head gear: http://www.justgiving.com/hadriansmerchandise. Don’t know what a buff is? Have a look here: http://www.hadrianswalk.org/?p=612
The plan is for us to publish a video diary of the walk as it goes, so you can see us suffering in whatever the English weather throws at us. As a prequal to the walk, we did a video diary of one of our training walks that you can see here: http://www.hadrianswalk.org/?p=631
Thank you again, you are making a huge difference.
And an extra special thank you to those of you who have already donated!
