Ceremony of the Keys

Thanks to Diamond Geezer’s recommendation, I applied for tickets to go to see the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London, as part of my mother’s birthday celebrations.

Unfortunately filming, photography and sound recordings are absolutely forbidden during the ceremony, so I can’t show you any pretty pictures, but the ceremony was good fun. We were led into the Tower by one of the Yeoman Warders, who explained the ceremony and it’s origins and positioned us for the ceremony itself. And then we got to hear those infamous words: “Halt! Who comes there?”

The whole thing only took just over half an hour or so, but if you’re going to be in London at all I highly recommend it, I’m definitely going to apply to go and see it again (probably not during the summer holidays though).
